Family campgrounds and picnic areas are available. Unless indicated, each campsite has a table and fireplace, fire ring or cooking stove/grill. Many of the forest's campgrounds will accommodate trailers. Campgrounds are maintained by private enterprises, and overnight fees are charged. There is a 14-day limit on your stay.
River campgrounds
Wild Plum campground: One mile east of Sierra City on Wild Plum Road. Elevation: 4, 400 feet. 47 campsites. 21 campsites for trailers. Vault toilet. Piped water.
Sierra campground: Seven miles east of Sierra City on Highway 49. Elevation: 5,600 feet. 16 campsites. 7 campsites for trailers. Vault toilets. No piped water. River water only.
Chapman Creek campground: Eight miles east of Sierra City on Highway 49. Elevation:5,600 feet. 29 campsites. 14 campsites for trailers. Vault toilets. Piped water.
Yuba Pass campground: Twelve miles east of Sierra City on Highway 49. Elevation: 6,700 feet. 20 campsites. Vault toilets. Piped water.

Salmon Creek campground: Seven miles north of Sierra City on Gold Lake Highway. Elevation: 5,800 feet. 31 campsites. 7 campsites for trailers. Vault toilets. Piped water.
Sardine Lakes campground: Six and one-half miles north of Sierra City on Gold Lake Highway. Elevation: 5,800 feet. 29 campsites. 15 campsites for trailers. Vault toilets. Piped water.
Diablo campground: Nine and one-half miles north on Packer Lake Road (off Gold Lake Highway). Elevation: 5,800 feet. Unimproved campsites for tents or trailers. Vault toilets. No piped water. Stream water only.
Berger campground: Nine miles north of Sierra City on Packer Lake Road (off Gold Lake Highway). Elevation: 5,900 feet. 10 campsites with room for small trailers. Vault toilets. No piped water. Stream water only.
Snag Lake campground: Ten miles north of Sierra City on Gold Lake Highway. Elevation: 6,600 feet. 16 unimproved campsites. Vault toilets. No piped water. Lake water only.
Packsaddle campground: Ten miles north of Sierra City on Packer Lake Road (off Gold Lake Highway). Elevation: 6,000 feet. Campsites for tents and trailers. No piped water. Stream water only. Vault toilets. Pack stock permitted.
Gold Lake campground: Twelve miles north of Sierra City on Gold Lake Highway
